Hopefully the weather is kind this weekend and we can get back to some football when we entertain Cefn albion at The Riverside kick off 2.00pm. The club would like to thank former player Shaun Barlow for kindly sponsoring the match ball.
Manager Ian Andrews gave his thoughts ahead of the game: "This Saturday we welcome Cefn Albion to the riverside ground, with the bad weather of late, fingers crossed our game will go ahead. A local derby is always a game that players, managers and supporters look forward to, and Penycae v Cefn is a big one. Form does go out of the window in derbies as the team who wants it most on the day are usually winners. Cefn have had an up and down season so far, but had some good wins of late in the league which has seen them climb the table. Steve (wacky) has done a great job job there with a good nucleus of local players, there are a few players in the Cefn team who have played for Penycae over the last few years and will no doubt add a bit if spice to the game. It hasn't done us any favour of late with not playing as a little gap has been opened up between us and teams above, we have talked about this as a group and with the next set of fixtures out, we have set a points target to achieve. We know we have a big challenge ahead to stay in the division, but I believe that one win will turn it around and give us confidence to climb the table to safety, we are good enough, just have to believe we can do it. New signings Elliott Kavanagh, Rhys Powell and Adam Mills will be looking to make there home debuts as we have a squad ready for the game. I'm sure the game will be a cracker with everything in it, let's hope the weather stays kind and we get the result we need.I hope supporters from both sides enjoy the game".
