Today saw us travel to Cefn Albion for a local derby to be played at Cefn Druids ground. We needed to show better concentration and more passion to get a result today. We started well and had a great opportunity to open the scoring when Alex Rowlands broke down the left and put a cross over to the far post for the on coming Ben Jones, the ball bounced up and he couldn't get a good connection to lob the keeper. The game was going at a fast pace and was end to end with both teams looking for the opening goal. On 25 mins we gave away a silly free kick 25 yards from goal, the cefn player struck a good free kick into the top corner for 1-0. This seemed to knock our boys and we began to invite the opposition forward by sitting deep and allowing them to get the ball wide on numerous occasions to get crosses into our box, we defended the situation quite well and slowly got back into the game but our final ball was letting us down. 5 mins before half time we were 2-0 down, again from when we were in possession and wanted 1 touch too many, got dispossessed and they broke forward and the striker slotted home. Cefn forced a few corners in the last minute of the half but we managed to hold on. Ht 2-0. We decided to make some positional changes at half time to have a go 2nd half. A few mins into the 2nd half we had a great chance to pull a goal back when Mike Parry cut the ball back for Austin Owen, who made a good connection but unfortunately straight at the keeper. Poor marking and maybe a foul on Josh Williams was the story of the 3rd cefn goal, a ball was played in behind us with no defender in sight, the cross was played in and he seemed to have got the ball, but then it rebounded out for the striker to tap home. We threw caution to the wind and pushed forward trying to get back into the game, we created a few opportunities to score but poor finishing and composure eluded us. Cefn also had a couple more chances but we held out. Ft 3-0. Before the 1st goal the game was a close affair, cefn obviously got confidence from the goal and siezed on that, we have got to stop giving goals away and roll up our sleeves and fight for every ball and every point. We have a week off now before 3 very tough away games.
