To day we travelled to Fc nomads looking to get a positive reaction after last week's performance. With quite a few players missing, manager Ian Andrews had to play himself to make the numbers up and add a bit of experience. The game started with both teams trying to get hold of the game on a wet pitch which was surprisingly in good condition with the weather of late. Fc nomads began to dominate possession with the midfield of Penycae struggling to get grips with there opposite number. They began carving out half chances but our defence were never really in trouble and dealt with the crosses into the box. On 26 mins Ian Andrews was shown a red card after committing a professional foul 30 yards from goal with the forward breaking away. A quick reshuffle meant captain Josh Millington moving into defence with Austin Owen playing the lonely striker. Fc nomads now pushed us right back and we're dominating possession but never really created clear cut chances and we saw out the half. HT 0-0. More of the same was the message at half time as we had defended well and looked solid and hard to breakdown. 10 mins into the 2nd half and nomads went ahead when a strike from 30 yards hit the striker on his back and looped over a stranded Matt Griffiths in goal. This was harsh on the lads as it was a lucky goal for nomads. With 10 men our players rolled up the sleeves and had a right go at nomads and you wouldn't have thought they had the extra man at times, on 78 mins we had a shout from a penalty turned down when Josh Millington was pulled down in the box when a cross came in. The referee didn't want to no, with us pushing forward left gaps for nomads to attack but they did not take advantage. With time running out we had a corner kick, our keeper Matt Griffiths went up for it, as the corner came in, Josh Millington was pulled down again and no penalty given, the ball fell to Adam yeap out wide who cut in and knocked the ball past the defender who seemed to push him out the way, no foul or penalty deemed by the referee, the ball was cleared and the lone nomads striker walked the ball in for 2-0 full time. Some decisions out there today were right but also the big calls didn't go our way, if they happened outside the box I'm sure it would have been a foul on at least 2 occasions, but referees are human and can't get everything right. A great effort from the players who played with 10 men for an hour and deserved a point, onto next week's 6 pointer against Coedpoeth now.
