On a very hot day down in Mold, we were looking for a win to close the gap on the teams above us. We started the game very positive and began to cause mold trouble with Austin Owen and Rhys Powell looking sharp up top, we created a couple of half chances but not taken. The first big chance of the game fell to Luke Peters, after great work from Austin Owen, he found himself 8 yards out but screwed his shot wide of the post. Austin Owen was next to have an attempt, with him turning his maker and getting a shot off which the mold keeper saved. The last 10 mins of the half belonged to mold, they put us under pressure and nearly opened the scoring only for Josh Williams to pull off a fantastic save, mold forced a few corners in the last minute and the post kept them out when the centre half headed at goal. Ht 0-0. The 2nd half started a bit slower, with the heat taking its toll. On 70 minutes mold got the breakthrough when the left back curled into far corner beating Josh Williams outstretched hand. Penycae now started to take a chance by pushing further up the pitch, mold saw this and nearly got a 2nd only for some last ditch defending. With time running out, we hit the bar twice in seconds, first Ian Andrews chip to the far post came back out and then Austin Owen volleyed back at goal only to hit the bar with the keeper beat. We still had time for one more chance when Adam Peters found Rhys Powell at the far post, he took the shot first time and mishit it into the keepers hand, that was the last chance and end of the game. Ft 1-0. A very good performance from us and on another day would have won 2 or 3 nil, but that's our problem at the minute, we are not taking our chances when on top in games. Mold hit us with a goal and left us chasing the game, we had chances but it wouldn't go in.
