Penycae Football Club C.I.C.

Today we welcomed Cefn Albion to the riverside,after a stop start period of games we were looking forward to the game. We got off to a disastrous start conceding a very sloppy goal in the 1st minute,a cross came in and we left the striker in acres of space to tap home. 6 min later we were 2-0 down, the Cefn player was allowed to receive the ball and turn at goal,he shot into the top corner from 20 yards out. We were chasing shadows for the next 20 min before finally managing to get into the game and created a couple of half chances, but could not find the net. He 2-0. After a grilling at half time and 2 changes made with Elliot Kavanagh coming on up front. We asked for more effort and to take the game to Cefn. The 2nd half started with Cefn again on top and creating problems with a couple of corners and free kicks, resulting in Cefn getting a 3rd goal when poor defending again gifted Cefn a tap in. We just couldn't get anything right today and Cefn went 4-0 up with a penalty when Matt Griffiths had the ball knocked out of his hands then fouled the attacker for a penalty. We did manage to get a consolation goal when Rhys Powell finished from a one on one with the keeper. Cefn had the last say with a 5th goal with 2 mins remaining. Ft 5-1. A bad day at the office all round, we were not good enough today and too many players under performed and Cefn deserved their win. We will now have to show character to bounce back and get some points on the board in our quest for survival.
