Today we welcomed Corwen to the riverside for another tough home game. With the league being very strong this season, points picked up in games against the top teams will be a bonus. With a few players missing due to injury and work commitments we brought Adam Yeap and Ian Williams into the starting line up. The game began with us kicking down for the 1st half, the 1st chance and goal of the game came in the 3rd minute when we conceded a terrible goal from our own free kick, Alex Rowlands got his idea all wrong and passed straight to a corwen player who couldn't believe his luck, 2 passes later and the ball was in the net. With our players still in shock and frustrated, we equalised 90 secs later when a long ball found josh Millington wide,he crossed into the box which got deflected into the air, austin owen came alive and finished past the keeper for 1-1 . We began to cause corwen a few problems with both josh Millington and austin owen looking sharp upfront, on 16 mins Ian Williams won possession on halfway and played a 1st time through ball to put josh Millington on goal,he took the ball in his stride and chipped the keeper from 20 yards for 2-1. A great turnaround from the players who looked hungry for more goals. Just before halftime,a corwen long ball over the top was easily picked up by Kyle Davies, he got caught in 2 minds and his back pass put the striker in on goal,he went around matt Griffiths and had an open goal with no defender in sight, the striker to a touch before firing against the crossbar to everyone's amazement. Ht 2-1. We gave the players a reminder of how they can expect corwen to come at them and not to take any risks. What we never expected was a mad 15 min spell when shambolic defending gifted corwen 3 goals and killed the game off for us. After such a promising 1st half and performance, to go from 2-1 up to 4-2 down in the space of 15 mad minutes was a real kick in the teeth. We are our worst enemy at times and have lost points this season due to mistakes in most games. We now have to pick ourselves up in training and prepare for Saturday's game at top of the table Brickfield.
