Bad day at the office.
Today's long awaited derby was a chance to continue the good form shown against Fc nomads the previous week.
The match started with us in the front foot and after 8 minutes
Austin Owen had a shot from 25 yards out which the keeper struggled to save with his feet, the keeper stayed down and was treated for the next few minutes. The keeper decided he was ok to continue. The game became scrappy with Rhos trying to break play up and knock long balls putting pressure on our defence, we struggled to adapt to this and couldn't put 3 passes together. The Rhos keeper went down again after kicking the ball upfield and there was another delay of 5 mins, the delays in play clearly affected us both times as we were on top before each stoppage. With Rhos making the change of keeper, the 1st half was more of a scrappy affair with both teams struggling to play any kind of football. We did have a chance when
James Triggs turned the centre back on the edge of the box and got a shot off which the Rhos keeper made a good save and tipped over for a corner. A mix up in defence allowed Rhos there 1st chance but the striker screwed his shot wide. HT 0-0. We stressed at half time that we needed to use our game and our passing must improve to gain advantage. We had a go at the beginning and only a fantastic save from the Rhos keeper prevented
Austin Owens shot going in the top corner. That was the last time we troubled the keeper as our performance was not getting any better and Rhos grew in confidence and attacked our goal. The breakthrough came on 58 mins when a cross came in and
Ryan Jones outstretched leg could only deflect the ball onto our goal. With us pushing forward for an equaliser, we conceded a free kick out wide, from the resulting free kick the Rhos player was allowed a free header from 8 yards out into the corner for 2-0. A poor goal to give away. Ft 2-0. A very poor showing from the team today, no passion and the defending for both
goals was not good enough, only for some good goalkeeping from
Matt Griffiths kept the scoreline down. Rhos wanted it more today and got the result they deserved.
