After last week's embarrassing last 25 mins against Brickfield, we had the chance to get some pride back and get back to basics. We made a few changes with Matthew Griffiths, Kyle Davies, Mike Parry and Tom Edwards coming into the starting line up. On a tight pitch our instructions were to be tight and compact and to defend from the front. The opening 10 mins was both teams trying to get a rhythm going with both defences holding firm. Our back four were looking solid with Phil Fitzpatrick organising and giving his orders. We began to get a bit of success attacking down the left with Tom Edwards who was looking dangerous and attacking at every opportunity. Both teams had half chances but nothing clinical to test either keeper. Ht 0-0. The message was more of the same defensive wise and if we wanted to win the game then we would need quality in the final 3rd. The 2nd half started well for us with Mike Parry now looking dangerous with a few attacking runs at the nomads defence ending with shots on target. On 65 mins the 1st goal of the game came and it was for nomads, after defending so well, we got caught in possession on halfway and one pass took our defence out and the striker slotted home for 1-0. This hurt us and our confidence dropped, our passing became poor and we struggled to get going, a hopeful long ball 5 mins later wasn't dealt with and then Matthew Griffiths got caught in no man's land, the Fc nomads player couldn't believe his luck when the ball fell to him with an empty net in front of him for 2-0. This was harsh on the players after working so hard and limiting nomads to few chances, but with the position we are in at the moment, every mistake we make are getting punished. I'm sure our luck will change and if the players show the level of performance and hard work today, then the results will come.
