After a few dropouts and both keepers not available, the trip to Llanuwchllyn was going to be a tough fixture. Manager Ian Andrews had to take keeper shirt for the day, with Kian Davies and Luke Peters coming into the starting line up. With the wind at our backs we got off to a good start and began causing Llanuwchllyn problems in the wide areas. Mike Parry and Luke Peters were looking to attack at every opportunity. Our first chance came from an Alex Rowlands corner which found Ryan Merrill at the far post only for his header to go wide. Kian Davies was next to have a chance, when his shot was tipped wide by the keeper. The game then turned a bit naughty with tackles flying in and the referee failing to take control. This suited Llanuwchllyn better, being more physical and drawing us into a battle. A few crosses from deep came in but Andrews dealt with them under no pressure. Ht 0-0. The message at half time was to get something from the game, the 2nd half started with us in top again but not really carving out clear chances, on 65 minutes Kian Davies was on the end of a very strong but fair challenge, he couldn't continue so was replaced by Austin Owen for his 1st appearance of the season. We continued to push forward and on 86 mins a long kick from Andrews was headed on by Mike Parry, Rhys Powell was first to react and beat the defender to the ball, he rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the net via a defender, our pressure had paid off and we got what turned out to be the winning goal. Ft 1-0. A great 3 points and first league win of the season, some great performances today and the lads really deserved the victory, nice to get the first win. The only sour note is that Kian Davies fractured his hip and is out for a few months, we wish him a speedy recovery.
