Llay Welfare v Penycae

After a disappointing result against mold, the players were looking to put in a better performance. With Adam Peters and Ollie Allman banned, we were forced into a few changes with kian Davies coming in for his debut. The game started with us on the front foot and the first chance fell to Jamie monk who found himself one on one with the keeper, Jamie hit a shot but it was too close to the keeper who saved with ease. A long ball into our box was headed back across goal, the Llay player kept it in and crossed to the far post where the Llay striker who was off the pitch at the time came back on and headed in for 1-0. Our players contested this decision but the referee was having none of it. 3 mins later we were 2-0 down when a poor attempt to clear the ball fell straight to a Llay player and he slotted home with ease. Just before half time it was 3-0 when again sloppy defending got punished by Llay. Ht 3-0. A few harsh words were given to the players, naivety, lack of concentration and not enough effort was our downfall in the 1st half and we expect better than that. The 2nd half was a bit better, but again we got punished for poor marking and defending as Llay added 2 more goals to make it 5-0 at full time. Our confidence is low, but we will only improve if the players put the hard work in. We will work hard on the training pitch to make things right.
