After our 1st win of the season last week against Offa, the players had some much needed confidence and were looking forward to the cup game against Coedpoeth. A couple of changes were made with Josh Williams, Shaun Pemberton and Josh Jones coming into the starting 11. The message to the players was to continue with the form from last week's 2nd half. From the 1st whistle we were right at it, and looked to attack Coedpoeth and get on the front foot, on 6mins we took the lead when Alex Rowlands received a pass out on the right, he beat his man and cut inside, he then hit an unstoppable shot into the top corner for 1-0. This seemed to wake up Coedpoeth who looked dangerous on the counter attack as we were a bit to open at times, on 10 mins it was 1-1 when we failed to deal with the 2nd ball and the Coedpoeth player finished from 15 yards giving Josh no chance in goal. Coedpoeth gained confidence from this and put us under a bit of pressure, but we held firm and got back into the game with Shaun Pemberton calming things down on the pitch and getting us playing football again. On 37 mins we went 2-1 up when Alex Rowlands was again involved, he cut inside on the right and picked out a great run from Adam Peters into the box who headed into the corner of the net, it was his 1st goal in nearly 3 years. We got a message onto the pitch to tighten things up and see the half out. Ht 2-1. The message at half time was to play our game and protect what we have. At the start of the 2nd half we looked comfortable at the back, and looked dangerous going forward with Mike Parry down the left, on 60 mins we went 3-1 up when Mike Parry went on a run and crossed into the box, James Triggs mishit attempt landed at Alex Rowlands feet and he slotted into the bottom corner for a 2 goal cushion. We made a couple of changes with Josh Millington and Rhys Powell coming on for Alex Rowlands and Shaun Pemberton. With us looking good to see the game out, Coedpoeth pulled a goal back when a long ball into the box wasn't cleared and a cross found the striker unmarked who headed home for 3-2. Coedpoeth began to throw everything at us, we were defending well and putting bodies on the line. On 86 mins Coedpoeth were reduced to 10 men when one of their players threw a punch at Mike Parry, the referee correctly sent him off. The man advantage worked in our favour as we kept possession well, and played in the Coedpoeth half, on 96 mins Chris Piney finished the game off when he beat his defender and shot into the bottom corner for 4-2. Another good performance and win for the players, Coedpoeth caused us problems but we held firm and got the win we deserved.
