Queens Park are finishing their campaign like a steam train and their 3-0 success against Penycae has propelled them back to the top of the Premier Division but they have played 4 games more than title favourites Corwen. The win was described by manager Dave Evans as “a work-man-like performance from us as we managed to defeat a Penycae side that looked determined to break up play and slow things down. Today was the highest free-kick count we've had all season and it was pleasing to see that during the staged flash points we didn't rise to the bait and managed to keep a level head. As the half progressed we created a number of clear cut chances. Josh Betteley was at the centre of all of the chances and he had a number of good headers flash just wide but as the half was coming to an end James Gregory popped up with an opportunist strike from a half clearance to drill the ball home to break the deadlock. At half time we were able to introduce Sean Dodd to add some steal to the middle of the field and it gave us a more stable platform to play from. This substitution had an immediate effect and we were able to get the ball down and start to dictate play. Soon after the interval up popped young James Gregory to double his account and unleash his trade mark double back flip in celebration. Corey Smart has carried a knock all week and we were looking for an opportunity to rest him but up he popped to curl a delightful left foot shot into the top corner. Man of the match went to young Adam Roberts who deputised well at right back and he showed what an outstanding talent he is. His energy up and down the line as well as his pin point delivery stood him out today.”
