Turning to the Premier Division League Cup, Penycae slumped to a 3-2 defeat in their own back yard against FC Queens Park leaving Penycae boss Ben Heath left to curse his luck saying “Silly mistakes cost us the game and I felt we were well on top for large parts of the game and twice led through Josh Millington and Corey Smart. Some youth players had a chance to shine and they did do unfortunately some senior players didn’t. It’s time to concentrate on the league, steady the ship with a regular team and move up the table. All I can say is we are still in 3rd gear.” The result clearly saw Park’s Dave Evans the happier of the two managers with him reporting “After a shaky start, James Gregory levelled when he whipped a delightful ball into the box that floated straight over the keeper Tom Belton and into the net. The very next phase of play saw the Park force another corner and this time a delightful ball by Edgar Lima picked out Jason Edwards to head home unmarked. There was a touch of class about our next goal, Barry Torrence and Edgar Lima linked up well and Edgar drilled the ball past the on rushing keeper to score his first ever Queens Park goal. Penycae came back into the game and pegged a goal back. The second half was a scrappy affair with both sides cancelling each other out but the defining moment when Penycae thought they had equalised but Jason Edwards flung himself across the goal to head off the line.
