The tough fixtures have been coming thick and fast since the turn of the New Year, and with Brymbo having won 6 out of the last 8 they were coming in to the game in high spirits.

We went into the game looking for our third clean sheet on the bounce having kept Ruthin & Llay at bay in our previous fixtures.

We were unlucky not to take the lead in the opening minutes when Ruben Monterio came in off his wing and his effort just crept wide. We looked to control the game from the start and with the Midfield three off Ben Richards, Ramone Nelson & Harry Bowen all being excellent in possession we moved the ball around but just couldn’t click in to gear. Aaron Jones went close with a header from a Ben Richards corner, before Jake Dean making his reserve debut swivelled in the box and drilled his shot near post beyond the Brymbo keeper to give us a 1-0 lead on 19 minutes.

Natty Davies was having success on the right and causing Brymbo problems, and the back four of Davies, Dyfan Smith, Aaron Jones & Josh Mazzarella denied Brymbo any clear chances and this was the platform to start controlling the game and we used the ball efficiently in possession.

Second half the game opened up and we controlled the game but struggled to create any clear chances in the first 20 mins. With Ben Darlington in goal no more than a spectator we just needed the second goal to kill the game off and it come via a tremendous left foot volley by Chris Piney, as he volleyed the ball into the bottom corner from 15 yards on the angle on the hour mark

From then on it was just about managing the game, keeping a clean sheet and going home with the three points

Big week ahead now as we prepare to travel to Holywell under the lights on Friday night.
