We started off the New Year with a home fixture against basement side Llangollen. On paper it should have been a routine performance but credit to Llangollen they made us work very hard for the result.

Whilst 90% of the game was played in Llangollen's half we could find a break through first half as the Llan keeper pulled off some brilliant saves to deny Ben Richards, Dan McGinnis, Luke Peters and Kian Davies. Although we had plenty of chances a fine save from Ben Darlington after 30 minutes and a superb goal line clearance from Josh Mazzarella on the rebound kept Llangollen at bay and the half ended 0-0.

Second half and the flow was all one way and again we found the llangollen keeper in fine for as he and his defenders threw everything in front of the ball. The players remained calm and frustration didn't creep in and on 67 minutes we got our rewards as a Josh Mazzarella cross met by the on rushing Dan McGinnis to break the deadlock, and if honest a sigh of relieve. We continued to push for more and when the ball fell to Dan McGinnis on 75 minutes he turned the defender and placed his shot in the bottom corner.

Now we had a spring in our step and bagged four in the last eight minutes with the first coming on 82 minutes, Josh Jones crossed for Kian Davies to tap home. On 83 minutes a Llan goal kick was won by Josh Jones who drove forward and his 25 yard shot hit the bottom corner.

Ben Richards deserved a goal but everything he threw at the Llangollen keeper he saved, but on 85 minutes he picked the ball up and went on a driving run skipping past four players before shooting, surely to score, but once again the keeper saved only to see the ball loop up for Dan McGinnis to nod home for his hat-trick. We went done and on 88 minutes wrapped up the day with Morgan Daykin converting at the back post.

A big month coming up for the lads as we face Ruthin & Llay United, 3rd & 4th respectively, and Rhydymwyn.
